Welcome to The Retreat Boutique Spa blog! Thank you for checking out my newly launched website and blog. Here you’ll find information on massage therapy, natural beauty products and many other topics to help you on your journey to wellness through massage and skincare.

Just a little about myself…I’ve been a massage therapist for 10 years with an initial spe-cialization in sports medicine. In May 2015, I was able to turn my passion for medicine, massage and the human body into the The Retreat Boutique Spa, which is housed in a peaceful spa studio in the heart of the Brazos River valley. As the only therapeutic spa in Austin County, I am proud to offer clients massage, body treatments, and skin care using all natural products.

I’m passionate about massage and the benefits it offers clients with a variety of needs – from physical to mental and emotional. There are lots of new techniques and products when it comes to massage therapy, but the benefits of massage are not new! It has an-cient Eastern roots and has been used for more than 5,000 years to heal injuries, re-lieve pain, prevent and cure illnesses, help reduce stress and produce deep relaxation. And beyond all of this…it just feels good!

I started off in sports medicine treating athletes and sports-related injuries and quickly realized how massage, in addition to physical therapy, helped clients quickly recover from their injuries by helping to loosen tight muscles, stretch connective tissue and re-lieve chronic pain. I’ve also worked with breast cancer survivors suffering from lymphe-dema and eventually became a Certified Lymphedema Therapist. Therapeutic massage also helps lower blood pressure, increase red blood cell count, reduce headaches and much more. The medical benefits are amazing!

Many clients seek the mental and emotional perks of massage and related services as well. We live in a fast-paced, success-oriented society that leaves us weary and worn down. Massage not only sets aside time for quiet, mental rejuvenation, but it truly pro-motes quality sleep, improved productivity and concentration, and it can help reduce anxiety.

The holidays can be a particularly hectic time of year and The Retreat Holiday Pack-ages make great gifts for friends or even for yourself! We all deserve some pampering and, remember…it’s good for your health too!

I hope you’ll check back in soon. I’ll share more specifics on the range of services The Retreat offers and the benefits they provide, such as Swedish, Deep Tissue and Prena-tal massage, Aroma Therapy, Sports, and Chair Massage Therapies as well as Skin Analysis, Facial Mask and Peels, Exfoliation Methods, Hair Removal and Eye Lash/ Brow Tinting and Celluma LED light therapy, which is used to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, relieve arthritic pain, muscle pain and stiffness, as well as treat acne.

In the meantime, feel free to contact me through email or Facebook to set up a ses-sion or share the gift of massage with a friend. Thanks for supporting The Retreat and I hope to see you soon!

Happy Spa-lidays!

Farrah
